About the Artist
Joseph Mohr wrote the German lyrics to "Stille Nacht" in 1816; Franz Xaver Gruber set them to music two years later for a small parish in Oberndorf, Austria. First performed on Christmas Eve 1818, it is now sung in over 300 languages and dialects.
